This one-day trip will take you on a journey to the heartland of historic Bosnia. The adventure starts from the capital Sarajevo and takes you through the picturesque countryside en-route to our first city Travnik, the birthplace of Ivo Andric, famous Bosnian novelist and the 1961 Nobel Prize winner for literature.
Travnik is also known for its medieval fortress from the 15th century which tells the history of its glorious past when it served as the Capital of Bosnian Eyalet during the Ottoman occupation.
Our next stop is Jajce, a city famous for its 18m high waterfall which makes it one of the few cities with a waterfall in the city center.
Jajce might be a small town but many times throughout history it served as an important place during different historic civilizations, including the Romans, the Byzantines, the Ottomans, and the Austro-Hungarians.
In more recent times the city also hosted the Second Conference of the Anti-Fascists Council of the National Liberation of Yugoslavia during WWII.
Some of the highlights of the tour include, the medieval Catacombs built in the 14th century which served as the last residence of the mighty Bosnian duke, Hrvoje Vukcic and his family.
Also, we will visit The Symbol of the Coexistence in the city: The Church of St. Mary and the Sultan Suleyman II Mosque, one temple where both Muslims and Catholics pray.
To conclude our tour, we will take you to a unique place where you will enjoy the crystal clear Pliva Lake and see the watermills once used to produce flour.
