View our best moments captured on Srebrenica Genocide memorial tour
The horrors of war can never be felt unless the actual stories are retold. Our tour will bring some of the unfortunate moments back to life as we drive towards the once UN-protected enclave of Srebrenica where more than 8,000 unarmed civilian men and boys faced their fate.
On the way, our specialised tour guide will retell the role and causes of the Srebrenica genocide in the bigger picture of the Bosnian conflict. We will also visit the memorial centre dedicated to the genocide victims where a survivor will narrate his experiences and the facts, with a video presentation that follows.
We will also pay a visit to the cemetery where the victims of Europe’s first genocide since WWII rest in peace. Then our trip leads us to the town itself, where you get to see how the locals live there today.
And on the way back to Sarajevo, we will talk about life in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This tour is a deeply emotional experience — not just a historical visit, but a human story that deserves to be seen, heard, and remembered. It is an important reminder of why peace, truth, and remembrance must never be taken for granted.
Srebrenica Genocide Memorial Tour is a day-long journey of remembrance and education, dedicated to understanding one of the darkest chapters in modern European history. With guidance from survivors and historians, this tour offers context, emotion, and truth — connecting visitors with the human stories behind the statistics.
The tour begins at our office in Sarajevo. For convenience, hotel pickup is also available. Your guide will introduce the historical background of the Bosnian War and the events leading up to the Srebrenica genocide.
The main part of the tour takes place at the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Centre, located at the former UN Dutchbat base. Here, you will watch a video presentation that documents the timeline of events, and hear firsthand testimony from a genocide survivor, offering a deeply personal perspective. A visit to the cemetery follows, where over 8,000 victims of the 1995 genocide are buried — a sobering but essential experience.
After the memorial, we continue into the town of Srebrenica, once a UN-declared “safe area.” Here, your guide will discuss the town’s pre-war diversity, its siege, and the aftermath of the genocide. You’ll walk through parts of the town to better understand how the war and its consequences are still felt today.
